I’m the Chief Accountant at the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, where I’ve spent my career learning Excel and VBA and using them to automate our processes.
Excel is the tool of my trade, and I’ve spent a lot of years getting good at it. These days I also compete with it. Excel esports is a niche sport: timed rounds of modelling and puzzle-solving, scored on accuracy and speed, against the best Excel users in the world.
I believe in continual self-improvement, which lately means learning to be a leader. That one is a work in progress, and probably always will be.

Why I write here
Mostly for myself. Writing something down is how I find out whether I actually understand it, and this site is where I keep what I’ll want to look up again later.
And if someone else is into the same things, they may as well get something out of it too.
How I write these
I use AI to help me write these pieces and design the site. The content is driven and iterated by me, I vet all of it, and I take great pains to make sure none of it is slop.
